Why stay in Sukhumvit
Bangkok was the world’s most visited city in 2025, with about 30 million international arrivals — and it is easy to see why. Temples, rooftop bars, street food and some of Asia’s best shopping malls all sit in one city, at prices that still feel good value.
For most first-time visitors, Sukhumvit is the easiest place to stay. It is modern Bangkok, stretched along the BTS Skytrain, so you can skip the traffic and get around by train.
Top things to do in and around Sukhumvit:
- Terminal 21 — a themed shopping mall right at Asok Station.
- EmQuartier and Emporium — big malls and food halls at Phrom Phong.
- Benjakitti Forest Park — a large green park for an early-morning walk or run.
- Thong Lo — one of Bangkok’s best areas for restaurants, cafes and bars.
Is Sukhumvit right for you?

Getting there and around
- From Suvarnabhumi Airport: take the Airport Rail Link to Makkasan, walk to Phetchaburi MRT Station, then ride the MRT to Sukhumvit Station (connected to BTS Asok). A taxi is easier with heavy luggage, but allow extra time for traffic.
- Getting around: the BTS Skytrain runs along Sukhumvit Road, and the MRT crosses it at Asok. For the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, take the MRT Blue Line to Sanam Chai Station.
- Best time to visit: November to February is the cooler, drier season and the most popular time to go — book early.
