Why stay in Siam & Pratunam
If Sukhumvit is Bangkok’s modern strip, Siam is its center. This is where the BTS Skytrain’s two lines meet, where the city’s biggest malls stand side by side, and just up the line at Phaya Thai, the train from Suvarnabhumi Airport ends. For a first trip focused on shopping and easy transport, it is hard to find a more convenient base.
Top things to do in and around Siam and Pratunam:
- Siam Paragon, Siam Center and MBK Center — from luxury brands to bargain electronics, all connected by skywalks.
- CentralWorld — one of Bangkok’s largest malls, at Ratchaprasong.
- Erawan Shrine — a busy Hindu shrine at the Ratchaprasong intersection.
- Pratunam Market — Bangkok’s famous clothing market for bargains.
- Jim Thompson House — a traditional teak house museum near National Stadium Station.
